Growing up, I didn’t think much about my body. I was an active kid so weight wasn’t an issue. My mom didn’t worry about it so it didn’t cross my mind as an issue. That is until my best friend became anorexic and I saw all the attention she was getting.

All of a sudden, I thought I had to be thinner, watch what I ate, and obsess about food and exercise. It led me down a road that would last almost a decade from anorexia to bulimia to body shame and hatred.

All because I thought I wasn’t good enough, pretty enough, thin enough, or fit enough as I was, when who and how I was so actually just fine.

When you go down the path of not good enough, it becomes an obsession. Everything you do is to prove both your worth and your unworthiness at the same time. You think being thin and pretty (or being rich and successful) will prove your worth but your belief is that you’re not good enough so you actually act in accordance to the not good enough belief, sabotaging your attempts to feel good enough.

Weight is just one example. We create all kinds of stories about our unworthiness.

You’re not good enough to be in a healthy, loving, and supportive relationship.

You’re not good enough to get a promotion, change jobs, ask for a raise, start your own business.

You’re not good enough to live the life you’ve always dreamed of.

You’re just not good enough. Period.

Why go after what you desire in the first place? You’re not good enough so it will just end in disappointment.

So you settle for a watered-down life that requires all sorts of distractions to tame that inner gnaw of discontent that is eating away at your soul – food, alcohol, tv, social media, shopping, etc.

It’s all a choice. You must decide you are worth it.

You are worth living a life you desire. You must declare that you will do whatever it takes to live this life, no matter how you feel, no matter how inconvenient, scary, uncomfortable, or unpopular it is, no matter how long it takes, for as long as it takes, because once you decide fully, it is game on and this unworthiness shit is over.

You reclaim your power, proclaim your truth, and decree all you desire into being.

All because you chose you.

Pic of me when I was a footloose and fancy free kid without a care in the world about body or food or exercise!
