How’s Monday been so far? I hope it went swimmingly. It’s a matter of perspective, really. Did you spend much time today thinking about how you wanted your day to go? Did you allow yourself to visualize the day and how it would ideally go?
We often don’t pay much attention to how much of an impact we can have on our days. We tend to go through the day and react to situations and circumstances the best we can. This doesn’t often give us the best outcome.
There is a different way. There is a better way. It doesn’t require you to spend a lot of money or drastically change your life. It does require a shift, however. The shift is simple but not always easy.
Here it is:
When you first wake up in the morning, allow yourself to stay in bed for a few minutes awake. In those first five minutes of your day, ask yourself:, “How do I want this day to go? How do I want to show up today? What kind of person do I want to be today? How do I desire to feel today?”
Then allow yourself to actively visualize the day going exactly as you desire. Give it details – what are you wearing, who do you interact with at work, after work, at home, how do your conversations go, what activities do you engage in, what events do you attend, how do you feel at different times throughout the day, what are the sights, sounds, scents, and emotions that make up your ideal day?” Put as many senses and as much emotion into it as possible.
Now as you get out of bed and go through your day, keep this vision alive. Think about it while you’re driving, walking, sitting in a meeting, eating lunch, etc. At different points throughout the day, check in with yourself – are you feeling how you desire to feel, are you showing up powerfully, are you being the person you desire to be? Make adjustments as necessary and then continue about your day.
At the end of the day when you are in bed, reflect on your day. What were your favorite moments of the day? When did you feel your best? What stood out as the highlights of your day? Bring emotion to your reverie. Use that as your guide as you contemplate the next day. Start to plant the seeds of how you want the next day to go.
Our mind is most receptive right before sleep and right upon waking. Use these times to plant seeds of what you desire. You will be amazed at what you are able to create when you focus your thoughts on what you want and create a vivid picture in your mind of what that looks like.
Encouraging you to only plant the seeds you want to grow,
Kori
P.S. If this seems a bit tricky, send me what you’re struggling with and I’ll send you a reframe to use before you go to bed and when you wake up.
I also shared a FB Live video in my FB group on this topic and will be sharing a tip a day this week. Don’t miss out. Join the group here!
