What would you willing to do to live life on your own terms? Are you willing to work on your business on the side? Are you willing to have a side job while you build your business?
Here’s the truth about me. I don’t have a trust fund. I don’t come from money. I don’t have any rich relatives who will leave me any inheritance. I don’t have a large savings account. I have an aversion to high debt and high-interest loans; hence, I don’t have a business loan. I don’t have a rich boyfriend who supports me. I am in this alone. I have always been in this alone.
And I ain’t gonna lie to you, it has been hard. When you are starting a coaching business, no one really understands what you’re doing; hence, you don’t get much support. This is a huge test of your faith and belief in what you are doing. Can you keep going when few believe in you or understand you? Can you keep going when you start to doubt yourself? When it would be so much easier just to get a job instead of thrashing through your own fears about your ability to achieve success in this?
These are important questions to answer. Entrepreneurship is not for the faint of heart.
I am still in it. I have funded my business through tutoring, editing essays, teaching, and waiting tables. It isn’t glamorous. It is real. I haven’t shared this part of me because I was ashamed. I didn’t want people to know I was hustling on the side to fund my entrepreneurial dream. I didn’t want people to know what I was doing until my business was rocking. I was hiding. And it isn’t fair. It isn’t fair to me and it isn’t fair to you.
We need to share our struggle as much as our success so that others can see they are not alone in their struggle. And so we don’t feel so alone in ours.
I don’t want to hide anymore. I may be ridiculed or criticized or ‘unfriended’ but I will no longer betray myself.
The more I share my truth and step into my power, the more others see that they, too, can do the same. I am committed to continuing to rise and to helping others rise too because it matters to me. No one wins when we hide and play small. Everyone wins when we step into our power and show up fully for life on our terms. We owe it to ourselves to give ourselves a chance to live with passion and purpose.
