Vision without action is a dream. Action without vision is simply passing the time. Action with vision is making a positive difference.

I’m curious what your vision is for your life. Do you have one? What elements make up your vision? Does your vision include your health, your family, your relationships, your finances, your leisure time?
Have you spent much time in active visualization? Visualizing an event or competition is quite common among many elite and Olympic athletes. It prepares them mentally for ‘game day.’ This same tool can be used in everyday life.
You can take four minutes at a time, while sitting quietly or while walking, and actively visualize a particular area of your life. Not sure where to begin? Never fear, I’m here to help!
Here are some keys to a powerful visualization:
- Make sure you are in it. (Sounds obvious, right?) When you imagine an aspect of your life, don’t be the outside observer, be in the picture. Be the center of the universe. If you are visualizing your career, see yourself taking the actions in your mind that align with your desired career.
- Bring in as much emotion as possible. How do you feel in your desired career? Powerful, confident, knowledgeable, respected?
- Make is a full sensory experience. What are the scents, the sounds, the sights, and the feelings of what you are visualizing?
- As you bring your visualization to a close, think of one thing you can do to start putting the wheels in motion to make your visualization a reality. Start researching
You can do this type of visualization for all areas of your life – your career, your relationships, your health, your leisure time.
I have used visualization before karate exams, before embarking on international trips, prior to teaching classes, conducting trainings or workshops, and before dance performances. It helps me see my desired outcome. I see myself taking each action. I feel the emotion of the event. I imagine every detail involved. Then I see myself completing the exam, training, or performance easily and successfully.
Training the mind is just as important as training the body.
Visualization activates the creative part of our brains and when we see ourselves doing what it is we desire in an active visualization, we start to generate positive energy in that area. It becomes more real to us and we start acting like the person we envision. It is powerful.
This is something you can easily do every day and it can have a tremendous impact on your life. I encourage you to try it. See if you can make this an everyday habit.
I made a video on this topic as well. You can watch it here.
I’ll leave you with one question: What will you visualize today?
Wishing you powerful visions and inspired actions,
Kori
