Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one’s courage.

-Anais Nin

What does it take to have a life and work that lights you up?
Strategy? Yes
Desire? Yes
But more than that, above all else, what does it take?
Courage.
Incredible courage.

It takes courage to pursue the life and work you have always dreamed of.

Courage to put yourself out there and take a risk.  To risk failing, risk succeeding, risk looking like a fool, risk looking powerful, risk realizing you are worth it, risk realizing you will do whatever it takes to make this happen, risk getting it wrong (multiple times), risk figuring it out, risk criticism, risk praise, risk being seen for who you really are, risk showing up more powerfully than you have ever shown up before, risk living the life you never thought was possible, risk living a life that is even better than you could have imagined, risk being a role model, risk going against the grain, risk losing it all, risk gaining it all, risk living your life deliberately, risk being fully alive.

We are never guaranteed success. Yes, it can be scary. But that is precisely how we grow – by pushing ourselves outside of our comfort zones regularly.

What have you always wanted to do that you still haven’t done yet? Why haven’t you done it? I bet part of the reason is fear.

Think back on the things you have done in the past that scared you – what was the outcome?  You must have survived it if you’re reading this email so however it turned out, it didn’t kill you, which is what we believe will happen sometimes when we put ourselves out there. We let our fears take over and grow into monsters.

What we need is to build our courage muscles.
