If you’re going through hell, keep going. – Winston Churchill

You never know how close you might be and often it’s when we are going through the thick of it that we are the closest.

We often get impatient and just want to be ‘there’ already. As I mentioned in a previous post, ‘there’ is all round us.

When we can start to view everything that is happening as exactly what is needed in order for us to become the person we are meant to be, we can shift our perspective on difficult situations.

What is this here to teach me? How is this an opportunity for me to grow?

We can’t leave our lives but we can fully live them. Each obstacle is a chance for us to learn more about ourselves, strengthen our faith and belief in ourselves and what we’re doing, stretch our determination muscles, and extend more love to ourselves and others.

It is often much more difficult to treat ourselves well when things aren’t going well. It is exactly in these times that we actually need to treat ourselves even better than normal. It is in these times that we feel more vulnerable and easily broken, which means we need to step up our self and soul care.

Here are three quick tips to boost yourself when you going through a challenging period:

    1. Spend more time outdoors – go for a walk, spend some time in a park, sit on a patio. Observe the sky, the trees, the birds. Take in the scents, sights, and sounds.
    2. Reach out – call a friend, meet someone for coffee, join a new meetup group. Resist the urge to isolate. Ask a friend to check on you if this is your default behavior.
    3. Tighten up – notice where you may be slacking on your morning and night routines.
      • Limit media of all varieties the first 30 minutes of the day and the last 30 minutes before bed. Limiting media decreases our tendency toward comparison-itis, which only feeds our impatience and lack of appreciation for where we are on the path.
      • Ensure you are taking a few minutes in the morning to decide how you want to feel, how you want your day to go, and send out gratitude.  Before bed, write down three great things that happened that day, three things you’re grateful for, and three things you desire for the next day.
      • How we start and end our days affects how we show up each day- and we have control over that.

What is the gift in what you are currently facing? Rewrite your current challenge as an invaluable opportunity – one that is expanding who you are and what you are capable of.

We are stronger than we realize and we are closer to the gold mine than we think. We just have to keep our head up, keep our heart strong, and put one foot in front of the other.

Remember, you are not alone on this journey. I am here for you. Send me your current challenge and I’ll send you a rewrite to make it one incredible story of success.

To living ALL of your life, even the messy bits,

Kori
