Hope won’t save you.
When you hold on to hold, you become a passive observer. Just think about the expression: I hope things get better. It puts the power and control of something outside of you.
Say no to hope. Say yes to desire. Desire is action – I will do what it takes to make things better. I will believe, trust, and know that things will get better. As I continue to step towards what I want, engage in activities that interest me, surround myself with people that inspire me, and hold on to the highest vision for my life, things will work out even better than I could have imagined.
Everything can be seen as a test of faith. You didn’t get that job? Allow yourself to feel the disappointment as then those feelings will pass. Then, send out gratitude: thank you, universe, higher power, source. God, for showing me there is something even better in store for me.
Now, get to work. This could mean clarifying your vision, creating a vision board, meditating, going for a walk, doing something/anything that lights your spirit and elevates your energy. When you are in that space, you are open to inspiration, serendipities, and synchronicities.
When I was applying for jobs after graduate school, I received many rejections, even when the interview went well and I was sure I would get an offer. It was a real test of faith and resilience. I kept at it. I knew there had to be a great job for me out there. I eventually ended up getting an offer for a job that was indeed better than all the ones that had rejected me.
Everything is absolutely working out for you. The most important thing is to BELIEVE it is and ACT in accordance to that belief. You can’t create something amazing when you don’t believe something amazing is possible. It starts with your mindset. It takes practice to train your mind to work for you as it is often operating from an old way of thinking and believing. The good news is the more you practice focusing on what you want, the more you will see more of what you want. It really is that simple.
For the rest of the day, today, remind yourself to look for the gold. The smile of a stranger. The birds flying overhead in formation. The perfect parking spot. The compliment. You can also be the gold-giver – smile, offer genuine compliments and praise, be generous, offer to help, express gratitude every chance you get.
In my FB group, I started a month of gratitude practice where you post three new things each day that you are grateful for – even those things that may be disappointing. A grateful heart is a full heart.
Today, as we celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., it serves as a great reminder of the power of a compelling vision and that it is indeed the small things done with great love that will change the world.
